Saturday and Sunday October 4-5: Antiques Weekend: another bumper event organised by Derwen Antiques
Sunday October 12: Wales Fungus Day. The third annual Wales Fungus Day is promising to be the biggest and best yet. Taking place at the National Botanic Garden on Sunday October 12, it will feature some of Wales’ top experts, a wild mushroom ‘cook-up’, a special (and unique) fungi patchwork exhibition, as well as family activities – including wooden-mushroom painting – sculptures, poetry and our fairy model village display.
Saturday and Sunday October 18-19: Apple and Pear Weekend
Sunday October 26: Wedding Fair Saturday October 25 to Sunday 2nd November. Every day from 12-4pm during the school half term, we’ve got a fun packed programme of family activities. For the first five days, we’re running a Bonkers Conkers competition in our Theatr Botanica. How many conkers can your conker smash to bits (you can bring your own or we’ll give you one)? PLUS – make something lovely from a scavanger hunt around the Garden. On Sunday 26th October, you’ll also get the chance to enjoy the winderful Meirion Owen’s Quack Pack in Millenium Square.
Sunday November 2: Late Chrysanthemum Show – for one day only . . . in the Great Glasshouse
Tuesday November 4: Song of the Golden Hare and other paintings – popular Pembrokeshire-based children’s illustrator, writer and author Jackie Morris return to the Garden’s Galley with a fabulously festive exhibition with wonderful imagery from your favourite storybooks, old and new (until January 13)
Saturday and Sunday November 8-9: Christmas Gift Fair – come and find the perfect present for that difficult-to-buy-for person in your life, in the stunning surrounds of Lord Foster’s Great Glasshouse.
Friday 28th November from 6.30pm – 9.pm. Swansea Astronomical Society will be hosting a Star Party. Given clear skies, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Moon and many other fascinating stellar objects will be on display. And in the Theatr Botanica there will be a talk, All about Rosetta (and other comets) which will give you the latest information on how the lander craft Philae is getting on, and maybe some spectacular photos. Access via the Corporate back entrance, admission £3 adults, under 16s free. Refreshments available.
Saturday and Sunday December 13-14 Christmas Craft Fair – the best local crafts might just make the perfect gift PLUS the Garden’s very special Santa Show (call 01558 667149 to book tickets)
Saturday and Sunday December 20-21 Christmas Food Fair – a veritable feast of the best festive food and drink from local producers who just love to please.
The National Botanic Garden of Wales is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We’ll be open again from 10am to 4pm on Boxing Day should you need a post-turkey trundle to cast off the Crimble cobwebs. There is FREE admission to the Garden throughout January – except for the three ‘event’ weekends which are:
