The Welsh Water Discovery Centre

Students of the Cardiff School of Architecture have designed the Water Discovery Centre, sponsored by Hyder.  It is a wooden building supported by concrete pylons which sits above the water at Pwll Yr Ardd (the 1st of the seven lakes).
Designed for educational purposes, it comprises three main zones:
- a large teaching area fitted out as a laboratory
- a resource/ quiet working area
- cloakroom/ storage area.
It is ideally placed for analysis of fieldwork results and identification work. The nearby dipping pools and dipping platform provide safe access for sampling pond life; data- logging equipment makes collection of accurate physical data possible for students of all ages.
    Educational activities will include:
- Wonderful Water programme
- Plants in Action programme
- Analysis of fieldwork data collected from habitats on site
- Holiday activities for families and children
- Hands – on classes for adults in horticulture
- Painting, dyeing, photography, and other art-based activities
