Moorlands of the World

The Moorlands of the World is similar in principal to the Woods of the World.  It will be sited in an area of the Garden where there are natural red sandstone outcrops, above the area of semi- natural woodland.  Plants from high altitude from areas of the world such as China, Lesotho and the Andes will be brought together to create a landscape reminiscent of moorlands.  In British moorlands in late summer there are drifts of heather, bilberry, and other small shrubs.  The moorlands of China do not have heathers, here intricate dwarf rhododendrons replace them and drifts of purple, pink, yellow and white flowers can be seen.
