Description: This Iris is a herbaceous perennial plant growing to 50-120 cm in height. The leaves are a glaucous green, narrow and tough. They are blade-shaped, 40-80 cm long and 2-4 cm broad. The flowers are borne in late spring or early summer on unbranched or sparsely-branched stems held above the leaves, each flower 4-7 cm diameter, mid- to purple-blue, often with a paler whitish or yellowish centre.

Asia (temperate) and Europe
Derivation of name It was found in Siberia
History of plant Dutch master paintings illustrate paintings over many centuries including Irises. They have no doubt been a popular plant and will continue to be so.
Growing instructions Full sun or partial shade with moist and rich soil. They will tolerate poor soil once established.
