Festival promises fun for all
There will be something for everyone at this year’s Garden of Wales Festival.
The event takes place simultaneously at the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney on Saturday May 31 and Sunday June 1.
Festival tickets cost just £10 each and entitle you to visit both venues as many times as you want over the weekend.
At the National Botanic Garden of Wales, there is family fun on offer with Theatre Na Nog’s Welsh-language family show “Fi, y cawr!” taking place in Theatr Botanica on the Saturday. Make sure you watch out for Erbie the Clown and the Garden’s very own team of face-painters who will be adding a special bit of colour to this fabulous family festival.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Wales’s very own Bluegrass heroes the Pot Boilers, who will be doing their stuff on the stage in Millennium Square. The Swansea Accordion Orchestra will also be putting the squeeze on to entertain visitors.
The Garden is also playing host to the acclaimed botanical artist Ann Swan, who will be demonstrating her art to Festival goers in the Aqualab on both days.
Meanwhile on the showfield, there will be a special exhibition by local companies offering a fantastic range of garden products and services; and a host of local nurseries are taking part in a Giant Plant Fair.
Gardeners’ Questions takes place in the marquee at 2.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
On the menu at Aberglasney are top-quality craft show and food fair as well as an exhibition of work by acclaimed wildlife artist David Cowdry.
Graham Rankin, director at Aberglasney, said: “It is set fair for a fabulous event for all fans of gardens and gardening. There really will be something for everyone over the Festival weekend.”
Director of the National Botanic Garden, Kevin Lamb said: “The special festival ticket is excellent value and we are looking forward to welcoming festival-goers by the thousand.”
To help visitors travel between the two venues, there will be a FREE shuttle bus running all day, Saturday and Sunday.
