Garden strikes gold
The National Botanic Garden of Wales has struck gold with a glowing tribute in a national newspaper.
The Carmarthenshire attraction has been named in the Independent’s top 10 of finest gardens to visit this autumn.
Independent columnist, garden writer and designer Cleve West chose the National Botanic Garden alongside internationally renowned venues such as Chatsworth and Westonbirt Arboretum for a feature in Saturday’s paper entitled “Gold Standard”.
Cleve says of the National Botanic Garden: “The setting is sublime . . . surrounded by restored lakes and stunning countryside.”
He continues: “Being one of the youngest gardens in the UK, a little more time is needed for it to compete with others in this list but Japanese acer, liquidambar and cercidiphyllum are just some of the embers that will set this garden alight in years to come.”
