Garden gets new Executive Team Member
The National Botanic Garden of Wales has announced another key appointment to the Executive team.
Ray Butt has taken on the role of Executive of Development and Projects.
Chief Executive Roy J. Thomas said: “Ray brings with him vast experience and a great knowledge in just the areas of expertise we need here at the Garden. I am delighted he is joining us.
“Ray’s work at Margam Park over 12 years is clearly recognised by those who understand the key operational issues in running a major visitor attraction.
“Following on from Geraint James’ appointment as Chief Finance Officer earlier this month from the Wales Tourist Board, the Executive Team has been strengthened considerably and the process of rebuilding confidence in the management continues.”
Before his time at Margam Park, Ray was a management consultant specialising in leisure, tourism and catering. He was also a lecturer in business management at the Open University. Ray recently completed a five-year study of tourism and outdoor recreational trends as part of an MSc in recreation management.
He said: “This is a very exciting time in the growth and development of the Garden and I am delighted to be offered the opportunity to be part of the Executive.”
Ray, who is married with two children and lives in Swansea, is a board member of Fuchsia Research International.
