Merry month of May
Traditional music and maypole dancing is the star of the show at the National Botanic Garden of Wales for the May Day bank holiday weekend.
There is something for everyone at Carmarthenshire’s No 1 visitor attraction this weekend with helicopter flights, classic cars and the Quack Pack all taking a turn to thrill the crowds.
As well as the special events laid on for the May Day bank holiday weekend, nature is also putting on a show at the most visited garden in Wales.
Now’s the time to take a woodland walk to admire the stunning show of bluebells, check out how the building of the amazing new Tropical House is getting on in the Double-Walled Garden and check up on the progress of Britain’s rarest tree.
As well as that, the darling ducklings are getting to grips with life on the peaceful necklace of lakes and the rhododendrons and azaleas have to be seen to be believed.
In charge of events at the Garden is head of operations Ray Butt. He said: “There cannot be lovelier venue anywhere in Wales to better enjoy the May Day bank holiday weekend.
“The best way to enjoy is to make a day of it and enjoy a leisurely lunch in our award-winning licensed restaurant as well as all the super sights, sounds and smells of spring here at The Wonder of Wales.”
The music and maypole dancing (along with a workshop) takes places from 11am-3pm on Sunday May 6. Helicopter flights will take visitors on a thrilling aerial tour of the Garden on the Sunday and the Monday. Sunday also boasts performances by the world-famous and ever-popular Quack Pack and a classic cars display by enthusiasts from Llandovery.
