Knee high horse
The newest and smallest resident of the National Botanic Garden has been on show for the first time. Tom Tom is a 10 day old Falabella foal standing just 22 inches tall!
Tom Tom is expected to reach a height of just 31 inches when he’s fully grown. Falabellas, are a rare breed of miniature horses originating from South America. They are perfectly proportioned and grow no higher than 34 inches. Despite their size they are very hardy.
Owen Jenkins, Press Officer said: “He’s quite a character already and only comes up to my knees-my dog is bigger than him! He’s aptly named as well because he bounces around but does lean on his mum, Bambi, for support at times! The Falabellas are firm favourites with the children in particular and an integral part of our popular mini farm.”
The horses have been supplied to the Garden by the Cefn Glan Stud in Llanarthne.
