Plants for Primary.
1st October 2010
This new course will look at the structure and function of plants and why plants are essential to all life on Earth. It will give you ideas to help you develop lesson plans for the new primary curriculum based on the theme of ‘Plants’ by looking at plants as organisms, plants as food, plants for medicines and plants for materials.
Developing School Grounds.
12th October 2010
The day takes you through the practical planning and management of successful school grounds development. It will highlight the possible pitfalls and look at solutions to different problems. So whether you have a large expanse of grass you want to develop to enhance the curriculum or an urban concrete playground that’s uninspiring, this course will give you the tools and the ideas to make your grounds into something that will have a positive impact on pupils learning and play for years to come.
Climate Change, Energy and Water Conservation.

This has been designed for Primary and Secondary schools who are part of the Eco schools programme and those schools looking to embed ESDGC issues into the curriculum and whole school practice. It will discuss Climate Change and its impacts both globally and locally and will explore ways to teach it. There will also be detailed information and guidance given on how to implement Energy and Water conservation methods in school to help achieve/retain Green Flag status.
Willow Christmas Decorations for the Classroom.

A course for teachers and teaching assistants that covers a variety of willow weaving techniques using both dried and freshly cut willow. Course participants will learn to make a variety of willow Christmas decorations that are suitable to make with children including wreaths, stars, chains and trees. Great for raising funds at school Christmas Fairs.
ESDGC.

Whether you are already a Green Flag or Healthy School or just starting out, this course will give you practical advice and support to make ESDGC a core part of your schools practice and ethos as required by ESTYN. It will examine the different SD and GC issues and what measures schools need to take to ensure embedding within the curriculum. It will also give you ideas for lesson plans and whole school projects.
Growing & Working with Willow in Schools.
28th January 2011
Course participants will be introduced to the cultivation and use of willow as a curriculum resource. During the day you learn to make a variety of outdoor or classroom projects suitable for children of all ages. Course participants will also be provided with a full set of written instructions.
Wildlife Gardening.
15th February 2011
This inset will look at ways to encourage greater biodiversity in your schools grounds whether rural or urban and how to manage natural areas in the long term. It will look specifically at ways to create and maintain habitats such as woodland, meadow, wetland or pond, how to undertake surveys to monitor changes in biodiversity overtime, what plants will attract wildlife and housing for birds, insects and mammals.
Growing Plants Successfully for the Curriculum.

Concentrating on growing vegetables and sensory plants this inset will give teachers the skills and knowledge required to set up and maintain a successful vegetable garden year on year. It looks at crop rotation, seed selection and propagation, composting and harvesting.
Plant Supports and Giant Flowers for the School Garden.

One day course to make a large plant obelisk, great for supporting runner beans and a giant sunflower to make a lovely feature in school gardens.
Mud Pies!

Develop outdoor teaching skills and provide essential environmental experiences at Foundation Phase and KS2. Work with mud, clay, sticks and stones in the school grounds.
