Carmarthenshire Farm Group Plant the roots of success
Members of Carmarthenshire Farm and Country Holiday Group combined their October meeting
with a tree planting ceremony at The National Botanic Gardens on Monday. The planting celebrated
the success of the group’s “Carmarthenshire Farmhouse Fayre” recipe book launched last October.
Chairman Freddie Burns said
“It seems symbolic that we are here at The National Botanic Gardens where we launched our book
a year ago and it is an honour to be given permission to plant our tree in these gardens. So many
of our guests visit the gardens during their stay and the gardens have become an integral part of
our community.”
The oak sapling was presented to the group as finalists at the Community Hub for the projects
receiving funding from the Developing Identity and Distinctiveness programme, a partnership
between Carmarthenshire County Council and Menter Bro Dinefwr, which has received funding
through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013. It is funded by the Welsh Assembly
Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
