Easter feast at the Garden

Easter feast at the Garden

Animal magic, music, vintage vehicles and a performance of Under Milkwood all share top billing at the National Botanic Garden of Wales this Easter.

The Quack Pack will be on from around 12 to 3 each day to wow holiday visitors at the best garden in Wales and there is the Easter Egg trail as well.

Students from Coleg Sir Gâr will be performing the Dylan Thomas “play for voices” on Easter Saturday at 1.30pm and Towy Valley Vintage Club are in the Garden on Easter Sunday having their annual start-of-season crank-up.

They will be showing off a variety of vintage cars, steam engines, tractors, garden equipment, bikes and models – and some club members will be in vintage dress.

To help celebrate Easter Monday, Dyfed Carriage Club will hold their annual Easter Bonnet Parade of horse-drawn traps and carriages from noon.

In charge of events at the Garden is David Hardy. He said: “It’s a pretty mouth-watering line-up over the bank holiday weekend and throughout the Easter holiday. We will also be trialling our ‘Garden Explorers’ offer where young visitors can grab a back-pack, select from a range of activities and then head off into the Garden and enjoy themselves.”

There will also be Garden craft activities, ‘How to make an Easter egg’ woodturning demonstrations, Easter chicks and ‘How to keep chickens’ workshops, and the Great Garden Story-Telling Weekend.

It would be nice to know the performance times for Under MIlk Wood. It would be a shame to miss the start.

  2. Bruce says:

Thanks for asking Nigel. There’s one performance in the Stable Block Courtyard at 1.30pm (if it’s too wet or too cold, it will be in the nearby Marquee). Hope you can make it but do wrap up warm!!
