Garden treat for fairies

Garden treat for fairies

All fairies get free admission to the National Botanic Garden of Wales on Wales Fungus Day – Sunday October 13.

The annual celebration of fungi features guided walks of fairy rings and tours of the Garden’s famous (and very rare) waxcap meadows as well as a chance to get up close and personal with some tree-rotting fungi, too.

Organiser and huge fungi fan Bruce Langridge said: “It’s going to be another great day at the Garden. We will be cooking with mushrooms, putting them under the microscope and having a host of fun and fungi-related  family activities. You could even have a go at making your own wood-turned toadstools!”

Another feature of the day will be the launch of a symphonic poem and overture entitled The Tethered Fairy ring, creative by award winning musician by Cheryl Beer.

Wales Fungus Day runs from 10am until 4.30pm.
