Special week for volunteers
The hard work done by volunteers at National Botanic Garden of Wales volunteers is being recognised with a special week.
From Monday June 11 until Sunday June 17, all the Garden’s volunteers are invited to ‘Bring A Friend Free of Charge’ so they can show their friends and family the fruits of their labour.
Volunteer co-ordinator Jane Down said: “Our volunteers do such a fantastic job and this is one way we can show them our appreciation. We know they take great pride in the work they do here at the Garden so the idea behind this special week is to give them a chance to be able to show the results of all their hard work.”
It was also possible, said Ms Down, that some of the special guests might be interested in taking up volunteering work at the Garden, too.
It is going to be a busy week for volunteers who will be hosting their counterparts from Aberglasney on the Wednesday evening.
Friends and family of volunteers will be interested to know that Wednesday also sees the launch of the Garden’s new “Wildflower Finder” which will feature a guided walk around the wildflower meadows of the national nature reserve and, on Saturday, Quantum Theatre will be in the Garden for their performance of Tales of Peter Rabbit. The Sunday is Fathers’ Day when the Garden plays host to music, magic and motors – and it’s free entry for Dads.
