Commemorate a loved one, or a special event like a wedding anniversary or birthday with a permanent memorial.

Commemorative Trees

This scheme enables individuals or organizations to commemorate an event such as an anniversary, birth or as a memoriam and at the same time support the important work of the Garden.

The usual procedure is that you would meet with a member of staff to view any suitable trees that are in situ. Trees are nominated by us for sponsorship. They are all trees that have been in the ground for a minimum of two years, are growing well and are part of an overall planting plan for the garden. We do not wish to plant trees on an ad hoc basis for commemorative purposes.

To select your tree we can arrange to meet you at a time and date of your choice – contact telephone number 01558 667142 or email to dmoore@gardenofwales.org.uk

Alternatively, a list of available trees can be provided or we can choose a suitable specimen for you.
After selection you will receive a certificate with the donor’s name, species and location of the tree. There is space on the certificate for a personal dedication. A copy of the certificate is kept in a commemorative book at the Gatehouse.

A small dedication can be printed and hung in the tree if requested.

Participants are also given 4 free entry vouchers to the Garden.

The price for a commemorative tree is £250. This takes into account both the annual maintenance costs and the administration.

We encourage participants who are UK taxpayers to donate through the Gift Aid scheme. This enables us to recoup the tax paid on the donation. A form is available if applicable

Commemorative Benches

There are a number of benches in the Gardens that people have chosen for remembrance or celebration. The benches available for sponsorship have already been purchased by the Gardens and are located throughout the site.

The usual procedure is that you would meet with a member of staff in the Gardens to choose a suitable bench. Alternatively a suitable location can be selected over the telephone (01558 667142) or via email to dmoore@gardenofwales.org.uk

After selection, you will be asked if you require a brass plaque. The plaque will be fixed to the bench and engraved with a suitable dedication, up to a maximum size of 15cm by 5cm (6 x 2 inches). This accommodates up to 100 letters.

The price to sponsor a commemorative bench is £1,000. This takes into account both the annual maintenance costs and the administration. Participants are also given 10 free entry vouchers to the garden.

We also encourage participants who are UK taxpayers to donate through the Gift Aid scheme. This enables us to recoup the tax paid on the donation. We’ll tell you more about this if you go ahead with the commeroative benches or trees.
