1. Second Chef – Ail Gogydd As Second Chef you will be part of the kitchen and restaurant team responsible for making sure that Garden’s quality food adds to our visitors’ enjoyment of their time here. The position involves preparing and serving food for the restaurant, outlets, and our corporate functions. You will be involved in all aspects of the kitchen operation and with meeting our high standards of customer service, hygiene, and sustainable food delivery. You will be expected to be capable of deputising for the Head Chef in her absence. You will have strong people skills and impeccable standards of food presentation and quality. Someone who can juggle priorities while staying calm when under pressure in a busy environment, you will also be well organised, dependable and adaptable. You will be a genuine team player, willing to assist and help train other staff. You must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, Bank Holidays, occasional evenings and special events.
Retail assistants are part of the small bilingual retail team at the Plant Centre at the main entrance of the Garden and the Gift Shop in the Stable block. This includes selling plant and retail goods, maintaining housekeeping standards for the Plant Centre area including weeding, watering and bench presentation, accepting and processing deliveries. Also required will be the ability to show high standards of customer care at all times whilst providing a helpful and friendly service in order to maximise sales, and participating in other activities that promote the Garden’s reputation and ongoing success.
You will need to have a warm welcoming manner with good interpersonal communication skills, a good general knowledge of plants, and ideally fluency in written and spoken Welsh. Able to work both collaboratively in a team, and independently taking responsibility and acting on your own initiative, you will also be able to use an EPOS till system and Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Someone who can juggle priorities while staying calm when under pressure in a busy environment, you will also be well organised, dependable and adaptable. This role requires a well-mannered, smart and polite individual, keen to advise and assist visitors and to provide high levels of customer care. You must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, Bank Holidays and special events as well as covering in other departments if required. A knowledge of, and interest in, the tourism sector would be an advantage. 3. Teachers – we need Welsh speaking primary and secondary science teachers to support our full time Education Department team. You will receive training for a variety of our taught programs and if suitable, you will be paid £10 per hour. You need to be relatively fit and love the outdoors.The amount of work depends on the the level of demand for our taught programs.
