It’s well worth using the bus (and/or the train) to visit the Garden as your ticket entitles you to half-price entry.
The Garden bus – the 279 – leaves Carmarthen bus station at 11.05am, picks up at Carmarthen Railway Station at 11.08, reaching the Garden at 11.30am. The return trip is 4.25pm, calling in again at the train station at 4.47 and back at the bus station for 4.50pm. There is an earlier bus back to Carmarthen, at 1.10pm
Here’s the 279 bus timetable The service is provided by Carmarthenshire County Council. There is no service on Fridays, Sundays or public holidays.
Half-price entry offer applies to the cost of a Full Adult Admission only – £9.75, concessionary rate is not applicable.

Driving To The National Botanic Garden
The National Botanic Garden of Wales is situated 10 mins from the M4 and two minutes from the A48 in Carmarthenshire, South West Wales, midway between Cross Hands and Carmarthen. For Satnav users, our postcode is SA32 8HN.

Driving from Swansea
Take the M4 west towards Carmarthen and Pont Abraham services. At the services take the A48 towards Carmarthen. Take the third exit at the Crosshands roundabout, remaining on the A48. After about 4 miles there is a slip road signposted B4310 to Nantgaredig. It has a brown leisure sign for National Botanic Garden of Wales. Follow the directions to the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
Driving from Carmarthen
Take the A48 towards Swansea and the M4. After approximately 8 miles, take a slip road signposted B4310 (Nantgaredig). It has a brown leisure sign for the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Anyone who cycles to the Garden can, on handing over bicycle clips and helmets for safe keeping, gets into the Garden for half price. The Carmarthen-Llanelli loop of National Cycle Network route 47, goes past the entrance to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. If you don’t feel you’ve got enough time to spend the day in the Botanic Garden, our Gatehouse cafe (which doesn’t require an admission fee to use) offers a lovely refreshment break and free wi-fi.
