Gift Aid -what is it?

Gift aid is an Inland Revenue scheme which allows charities to reclaim the basic rate tax you have paid as a UK taxpayer – currently an extra 28p for every £1 of the total paid. This makes a massive difference to charities like us.

Who can make a Gift Aid Declaration?

Declarations need to be made by a UK taxpayer and need to have paid tax at least equal to the value claimed by The National Botanic Garden of Wales.

Why should I make a donation?

Donations are vital in supporting the Garden and in particular its science, education and conservation activities.

Thank you for your much for your support and for allowing us to claim Gift Aid on your donation.

Notes:

  1. Your declaration covers membership subscriptions and any donation you have made and will make in the future.
Please notify the garden if you change your name or address while the declaration is still in force.
You may cancel the declaration within the next 30 Days or at any time by notifying the garden in writing. It will then not apply to donations you make on or after the date of cancellation or such later date as specified.
  2. If in the future your circumstances change and you no longer pay tax on your income and capital gains equal to the tax the Garden reclaims, you can cancel your declaration (see note 1).
  3. If you pay tax at a higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your Self-Assessment Tax Returns.
  4. If you are unsure whether your donations qualify for Gift Aid tax relief, please contact your local tax office for leaflet IR65 Giving to charity by individuals.
